"From this hour I ordain myself loos'd of limits and imaginary lines, going where I list, my own master total and absolute, Listening to others, considering well what they say, Pausing, searching, receiving, contemplating, Gently, but with undeniable will, divesting myself of the holds that would hold me."
Walt Whitman (1819-92)
"When I look back now over my life and call to mind what I might have had simply for taking and did not take, my heart is like to break."

Blogger Idol Top Picks Season 2 Week 1
Here's this blog's picks for this week's Blogger Idol entries:
Andes Blog had about the best idea I have seen on what to buy for Christmas.
Blondzila at Sanity Optional entered a post expressing desire to give to her husband, so that he could recapture a season that has become almost closed to him. Very selfless, very cool.
Lake Neuron's Bait Shop (you gotta love that name) asked a question I never thought about..."Where's the gold?"
Jess at She is Leaving has an entry that, to me, highlights what we feel when the season, which is always presented (no pun intended) to us as everything right and at peace, isn't.
Just for the record, I liked most of the entries. These are the ones I liked the most.
Test Drive II Jon Courtney, 27, stopped by the St. Clair County (Ill.) Jail to turn himself in on a warrant. He thought he could pay his bail and get going right away, so he left his pickup truck sitting out front, idling. Instead, he was booked into jail. Courtney told jailers about the truck, but when deputies went out to secure it, it was gone. Courtney was cited for leaving an unattended vehicle, and James Thomas, 17, who was leaving the jail at the same time Courtney arrived, was pulled over later driving the truck, and was arrested. Thomas had stopped by the jail to see if he had any warrants on him, but he didn’t. (Belleville News-Democrat) ...Which apparently offended him. Available in This is True: Book Collection Vol. 11
